It’s no secret that there are some things that I really, REALLY love. Pinterest is near the top of that list, somewhere after God and my family but in between Blake Shelton and rap music. And I’m not the only one that loves it like a love song, so many of my friends and family do too.
Often times my girlfriends and I would talk about things that we had pinned but that we still hadn’t tried. Maybe it was that we didn’t have the time or that we didn’t have the confidence in our craftiness or a combination of both. Last fall I decided I would try to do something about it and I hosted my first Pinterest Party.
What’s a Pinterest Party you ask? Well, it’s a party where we Pinterest. No really, that’s what it is.
I generally pick three or four craft projects that can be completed start to finish in an afternoon and then I get all of the supplies together and do any prep work that might help to speed things up that day. I leave all the food to the guests, with everyone bringing their favorite Pinterest appetizer, finger food or dessert. I invite all my friends and they invite their friends and pretty soon we have a house full of women on a mission to create some SERIOUS loveliness.
I can’t tell you how many times I have heard a woman tell me “but I’m not crafty”. Well, you know what, I’m not really crafty either, but I am creative. And if you promise to not tell anyone else, I will tell you a secret. You are creative, too. No, I really mean it. Stop rolling your eyes.
It would be impossible for you not to be creative because you were created in the image and with the breath of the creator of the universe. Maybe you don’t know how to sew or knit or draw a stick figure, that’s ok. I can’t do those things either, but I can use my mind and my fingers to create because that’s how I was created. And you were too. So stop saying you aren’t.
Last weekend was the Fall 2013 Pinterest Party and as you can see from the pictures, we had the best time. You can read all about the projects that we completed here, along with link to the original Pinterest pin. By the time the weekend was over, 40 ladies had gotten their Pinterest on and created some amazing pieces. It is always so fun for me to see that you can give 40 women the exact same materials and supplies and each one with make something completely different. Remember what I said about you being creative, told you so.
Plans are in the works for the Christmas Pinterest Party and I will let you know as soon as I have set the dates.
While I am working on the projects list, I would love to know what Christmas Craft or Decor DIY you have seen on Pinterest that you would really like to try?
